Rib Scripting

Filed under: Uncategorized — cchalmers @ 9:22 pm

Here’s a script that may help with constructing ribs from the global form’s surfaces.

(right-click and select save-as from the menu to download)

Ryiobs02.rvb

It’s pretty crude: just extract the isoparms from the surface and use this script to extrude them. The fancy part is that this script makes ribs that are somewhere in-between the straight ones you’d get from the contour command and the wonky ones you’d get from just extruding the isoparms normal to the surface.

This script also generates the intersection lines of the ribs. Select them when you unroll the ribs and they will follow along to the 2D pattern (dovetailing nicely into Andrew’s orient boxes script in the waffle technique below).

Hope this helps! – Chris
